All of a sudden the idea of a new BIG TV was just the motivation my hubby needed to get moving on my fireplace and entertainment center rework. Just since Monday, he has demoed and started reframing the fire place and built-in area. Remember our before picture?
This is the temporary new set up of my living room. The plastic wall that divides my room in two is making the room very small, but is definitely cutting down on the dust.

Fire place progress
You will notice that he bought a HUGE TV. And he couldn’t possible go any time with out it, so he rearranged the living room and installed it on the largest wall we own. It now suffers from what Amy calls “the Costo effect.” That big wall makes it look like a cute little TV. It is not! That monster is 60 inches. When we watch TV at night, he pushes the couch back until he is sitting UNDER the bar so the TV isn’t distorted. I keep telling myself it is temporary, but the layout is killing me. And the plastic wall make the room so small now.

fireplace progress
He has started building out the area around what will be the fireplace insert. We want to cover it with rock, but we aren’t exactly sure what rock yet…He is also pressuring me to make a decision on how to layout the built-ins to the right of the fire place. Too many options. Doors to cover the mess and components? Open shelves for display? A little of both? I hate to slow him down while he is on a roll, but I need to a minute to think about what I want. This is definitely a one time project.
I’ll definitely keep you posted, but I project a little slow down in his progress next week Hopefully we can wrap it up by the end of the month. Mostly we will be at the mercy of UPS with our rock and fireplace insert.

Darn job got in the way this week. Both in his progress and my posting. Hopefully more soon!
